What families say about working with us

We share these reflections as honestly as we can. Not every session is perfect — but nearly all of them move families forward in ways they didn't expect.

In Their Words

Reflections from families in Phuket and beyond

SK

Siriporn Kasetsiri

Phuket Town, Thailand

We did the Document Organisation Toolkit after my mother passed — we had no idea where anything was. The session helped us understand what we actually held, and the template system has been something my brother and I both use now. I wish we'd done it years earlier, honestly. Priya was very patient with us during a difficult time.

Richard Meadows

British expat, Rawai

My wife and I attended the Succession Education Programme together. The content was quite different from what I expected — far less dry than reading about these things online, and Marcus had a way of explaining concepts that didn't make us feel overwhelmed. The peer group is something we still participate in. Took a session or two to settle into the format, but worth it.

The Heritage Storytelling Session was my husband's idea — I was sceptical at first, thinking it would feel awkward. It didn't. The prompt cards were thoughtful, and our children actually enjoyed participating. We have a little book now with my mother-in-law's stories in it that we wouldn't otherwise have. That alone was worth it for us.

Amara Chuayprakong

Kathu, Phuket

We are a Thai–Australian family and communication about these topics had always been a bit fractured between generations. The programme helped us find a common language for what we were trying to sort out. Lalana was brilliant at keeping things calm when they got tense. I didn't expect to leave the session feeling lighter, but I did.

Helene Vandermeer

Belgian expat, Bang Tao

I used the Document Toolkit mainly because my records were in a mix of Belgian, French, and Thai paperwork and nothing was organised sensibly. The template system works well for multilingual documents and Priya was very practical about it. I'd say the upkeep checklist is the most useful thing I've taken from it — I actually follow it.

My family did all three services over about five months. Starting with the storytelling session was the right call — it softened things before we got to the harder conversations in the programme. I'm not sure we would have talked the way we did if we hadn't already spent an afternoon recording my father's memories together. The sequencing of it worked really well.

Family Journeys

A closer look at three families

These accounts are composites drawn from real families with identifying details changed to protect privacy.

Case Study — Heritage Storytelling

The situation

A Phuket family with three adult children and an elderly grandmother whose memories of their family's history in southern Thailand had never been recorded. The family worried these stories would simply be lost.

What we did

A Heritage Storytelling Session with all five family members present. The grandmother's responses to the layered prompt cards became the spine of the session, with her children and grandchildren adding their own memories around hers.

What resulted

A completed keepsake template covering four generations, an audio recording the family kept, and — in their words — a conversation they had never had before. The family returned six months later for the Document Toolkit.

"We didn't realise how much we didn't know about our own family until we started answering the questions. It opened something up."

Case Study — Document Organisation Toolkit

The situation

A long-term expat couple in Phuket with documents across two countries, several different digital and paper systems, and no clear view of what they held or where it all was. Neither had set up a working system before.

What we did

A Document Toolkit working session that mapped their existing documents, identified gaps, and arranged materials into the Document Shelf System using templates adapted for a two-country household with mixed-language documents.

What resulted

A functioning document system that both partners understand and can maintain independently. The two-week follow-up confirmed the system was in active use, with one gap identified and addressed at that point.

"I can now find anything in under two minutes. That sounds minor, but the previous situation was genuinely worrying."

Case Study — Succession Education Programme

The situation

A Thai family with a family business and three adult siblings who had very different assumptions about how the future should be handled. Previous conversations had ended without resolution and, on one occasion, in argument.

What we did

The Succession Education Programme over four sessions, including two facilitated family discussions. The facilitator helped the siblings develop a shared vocabulary and a structure for their conversation that kept it productive rather than personal.

What resulted

The siblings completed the programme with a shared workbook and a set of discussion notes they could take to their own legal and financial advisers. The family has continued with peer group sessions for ongoing support.

"Having someone in the room who wasn't taking anyone's side made it possible to actually hear each other. That hadn't happened before."
